gavin russom first appeared at ntrop recordings with a remix work to felizol & the boys vinyl release, ntrop018. having compose & produce stunning releases for the notorious dfa label, gavin kicks of his knigh skyy moniker to ntrop, with a magnificent sci-fi acid marathon. on the flip side joalz recomposing >das kanst..< to an ebm rock song.

minus are proud to present the newest member of the family, in the form of matador.in the past four years gavin lynchs sounds have found a home on perc trax and cocoon, plus most recently on plus 8 where richie hawtin recently introduced the young dubliner ahead of his first minus event (at berlins watergate, joining the minus team for the official fly bermuda afterparty), with his stellar remix of bryan zentzs d-clash.

despite the post-industrial label often affixed to factory floor, there is a greater complexity of sound within the bands music that defies such facile descriptions. yes, there are rigid, fixed beats, and other sounds from the manufacturing plant, as suggested by the trios moniker. but there is also an underlying danceability that belies the seeming austerity of the sound, a hint at warmth that cuts through the permafrozen exterior. that curious balance has paid endless dividends thus far: they have been remixed by producer gavin russom, liars angus andrew and no ages dean allen, remixed and released by optimo, remixed and collaborated live with throbbing gristle legend chris carter, and remixed and produced (!) by joy division and new orders stephen morris. its been a whirlwind few years in terms of musical accolades, and factory floors dfa debut is a glimpse into why.

lower east launched in the summer of 2010. it was the result of a coming together of 3 likeminded friends: cozzy d, lee brinx and ed kane (kanio/dexter kane). all established members of the london scene in their own right, they combined forces to create a label with one simple ethos: quality electronic music. whilst the idea itself is unified, the influences are vast. disco, techno, garage, hip-hop, drum and bass, jazz, 80 s and soul all inspire lower easts subtle blend of 4/4 beats. notable artists on lower east include: lee foss, gavin herlihy, robert james, uner, nima gorji, pezzner, richie ahmed, puente and rosche, waifs and strays, and death on the balcony.

from the tropics comes whiskey disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. it s loosely connected to sleazy mcqueen and his assorted cohorts. whiskey disco 8, tales from the gulch, showcases the razor sharp cutting skills of anthony mansfield. in addition to his releases on whiskey disco, he s recently showcased music on gomma, om, moodmusic, wurst and of course, his own, hector works. please choose your favorite, the top 4 will be on the vinyl release.
